Enterprising Economy!

This week we are studying about economy, the way a country runs its industry, trade, and finance!

We have learned that in the United States producers may make or do almost anything they can think of, as long as the law allows it.
Consumers may buy what they want and can afford.

This system is called free enterprise.

To practice these and other important words about economy, visit this link to play the Eword game!

Another wonderful way to study is to take the quiz below!

Everyday Economy! on PhotoPeach

What have you learned about economy?

  1. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I love the video above of our spelling words! The E word game is fun! It is like Bingo because you can get 3 skateboards across, horizontal, or diagonal. Below are my battle words.

My uncle works in an assembly line at a factory where he cleans the cotton for jeans before they get sewn.

    I hope you liked it!

    Sincerely,
    Sammy

    1. Dear Sammy,

I also love the video quiz of our words! I played the E word game three times because it is really fun!

      My battle sentences are:

The awesome assembly line that made dark blue pajamas with spine-chilling shark patterns on them, slowly transported the precious pants down the line, but then the power went out, causing all of them to sullenly travel home.

The employees worked hard in the tuxedo factory to break their record of fifty fancy shirts a day, and on Tuesday, June fifth, they manufactured fifty-seven tuxedos to break their record.

      Sincerely,
      Royce

    2. @ Royce,

I just played another round of the E word game before I stated typing. I like your second sentence better than your first one because you used high level adjectives, the name of a factory, and lastly how the factory broke their record.

What do you like about the quiz? I liked learning about what a consumer and producers are.

      Your friend,
      Sammy

  4. Dear Mrs.Yollis,

The photo peach quiz was extremely helpful for practicing the social studies words. Its interesting learning about the economy. I went to vote with my dad yesterday, and I got a sticker just like in class. The outcome of our next election will effect our economy. Hopefully it will be a positive result that will help our economy, and will create more jobs.

    Sincerely,
    Brenden

  5. Dear Mrs. Yollis and class,

Free enterprise is the system also used within Australia. When there is a demand for something, producers will try to supply to consumers for a profit.

Did you know producers also like to create a demand for their product? In both our countries, producers use advertising to help create demand for their products. Have you seen an ad for a new toy and thought it would do wonderful things only to find it wasn’t what you expected? The ad convinced us the toy would be more than it really was.

Our system of free enterprise has given us the range of products we have today. Not only are many things we do now easier than for our grandparents, we can be at home yet talking and seeing people on the other side of the world.

Does this make you wonder what we may have in the future? I wonder if any of you will come up with a great idea for a new product?
